Wild
life in its myriad forms fascinates her. It always has.
The connection is deep and spiritual. Leopards, cheetahs,
jaguars, tigers, cougars, lynx.... they're all part
of Cathy's world. The quiet, one-on-one time she spends
with them brings a depth to her images that is truly
magical.
Working principally in colored pencil, Cathy's painstaking
attention to detail is extraordinary. She captures the
essence of each subject's unique personality. Upon viewing
one of Cathy's images, a trainer at the San Diego Zoo
instantly recognized that this wasn't just another cheetah,
it was "Chobe". In fact, because many of Cathy's
subjects are animals that she has come to know from
zoos and game parks in California, Tennessee, and Oregon,
their trainers have become steady customers. Her moving
depiction of "Asia" a clouded leopard tragically
lost to cancer, brought much comfort to those who raised
and cared for her. The collector who acquired the original
was moved to tears. Click
