M.C.
Escher
was a graphic artist born in Leeuwarden, Holland, known
for drawing spatial illusions, complex architectural mazes,
and repeating geometric patterns.n 1924 he traveled to
Italy, and settled two years later in Rome. During his
10 years in that country, he explored the architecture
and landscapes of the Italian villages and countryside,
creating inspired drawings. He later incorporated the
drawings into his now-famous prints of bizarre optical
and conceptual effects, which became even more dramatic
through his treatment of light, using vivid contrasts
of black and white. |
