Probably one of the earliest historical women of the west. One usually thinks of women such as Annie Oakly, Belle Starr, Calamity Jane, Julia Bulette, or Lola Montez, but at the age of sixteen Sacajawea was very instrumental in leading Lewis and Clark through the Northwest Passage and on to the Pacific Ocean. Here she is depicted in a modern version of her as she takes her first steps into the Water of the Pacific Ocean
